How it all began...
How we met
We first met through Diana's family at a restaurant in Germany, but our connection truly sparked during a snowy trip to Seealpsee and over cups of Glühwein at the Konstanz Christmas market. After exchanging a surprise postcard and a handmade guidebook, a nervous but exciting goodbye at a train station led to our first official date.
The adventure
Our first date making dumplings felt so incredibly perfect that we immediately made our relationship official, kicking off a beautiful long-distance romance between Konstanz and Milan. Through countless weekend visits, a shared dream trip to Japan, and time together in Morelia, our bond grew so strong that we quickly realized we never wanted to be apart.
The big question
Knowing we wanted to build our future together in Germany, our next trip to Mexico began with a magical, jet-lagged sunrise on the beach in Cancún. Right there at dawn on our anniversary, a heartfelt letter turned into a proposal — and a 'yes' we'd both already been carrying in our hearts.

Everything you need to know for your journey
Morelia International Airport (MLM) is the closest airport to the venue. From the US, there are direct flights to Morelia on United (from Houston/IAH), American (from Dallas/DFW), and Volaris (from Los Angeles/LAX and Chicago/ORD). From elsewhere, the simplest route is to connect through Mexico City (MEX) — Aeroméxico, Volaris, and Viva Aerobus run frequent domestic flights to Morelia (about 1 hour). Cancún (CUN) also has direct Volaris flights to Morelia a few times per week. If those don't fit, Guadalajara (GDL) is a good fallback — international flights are plentiful and it's about a 3-hour drive to Morelia.
Most western travelers do not need a visa to enter Mexico for tourism — including citizens of the US, Canada, UK, EU/Schengen countries, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. You'll receive an FMM tourist permit on arrival, valid for up to 180 days. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date. If your nationality does require a visa, apply at the nearest Mexican consulate — most offer online appointments.
We recommend staying in Morelia's beautiful historic center. Hotel recommendations with group rates will be shared closer to the date.
Weather: warm sunny days around 25-30°C and cool evenings around 14-15°C, with occasional showers as the rainy season starts — pack a light layer and maybe a small umbrella (see the dress code section for more). Currency: Mexican Peso (MXN); cards are widely accepted, but small cash is useful for taxis and markets. Power: Mexico uses Type A/B plugs (same as the US) at 127 V/60 Hz — bring an adapter and check that your devices are dual-voltage. Time zone: Central Time (UTC-6). For mobile data, we recommend a local Telcel SIM — available at the airport or any Oxxo convenience store.

A UNESCO World Heritage city full of charm
Morelia, the capital of Michoacán and Diana's hometown, is one of Mexico's most beautiful colonial cities. Its stunning pink stone architecture, vibrant culture, and delicious cuisine make it the perfect backdrop for our wedding — and a chance for you to get to know Diana's home.
The stunning baroque cathedral is the heart of the city, especially beautiful when illuminated at night.
This iconic 18th-century aqueduct stretches over 1.5 km with 253 arches and is beautifully lit in the evening.
Try the famous carnitas, corundas, uchepos, gazpacho moreliano (a fruit cup with chili and cheese), vasolote (Morelia's version of elote — kernels in a cup with butter, lime, mayo, cheese, and chili), and the legendary Morelia candy (dulces morelianos). Don't miss the Mercado de Dulces!
Visit the magical town of Pátzcuaro and the island of Janitzio (the epicenter of Día de los Muertos) on Lake Pátzcuaro, explore the Purépecha archaeological site at Tzintzuntzan, and stop by Santa Clara del Cobre for its traditional copper-craft workshops.
What to wear
We'd love for you to dress up for our special day! Semi-formal to formal attire is perfect.
Embrace the spirit of Mexico — bright colors and festive attire are more than welcome.
May in Morelia has warm sunny days around 25-30°C (77-86°F), but nights drop to about 14-15°C (57-59°F). Bring a light jacket or shawl for the evening — it's cooler than you might expect! Rain is relatively rare but possible as the rainy season approaches.
